Only the small panel under the camera plateau is glass. The rest is aluminium, and the two break differently.
If the glass under the plateau is cracked, we take that panel off and fit a new one. If the aluminium is chipped or dented, new glass won't fix it. We can replace the whole body, but it's a tad expensive, so we usually tell you to live with the marks.
The panel is built to come off. Two screws sit either side of the charging port, and heat softens the adhesive around the edge. We lift it out. No grinding, no scraping.
Your wireless charging coil is stuck to the old glass. We peel it off and fit it to the new panel, so you keep your own charging hardware.
From the bench
Apple uses Ceramic Shield on the back of the 17 series. It survives a drop much better than the glass on a 16 Pro, so we don't see many cracked 17 Pro backs. We see chipped colour on the plateau corners far more often. It looks bad, but the glass is usually fine.
We put a fresh adhesive strip round the edge, then fit the panel. We then clamp the phone and leave it until the adhesive has fully set. If a phone goes out too early, a corner lifts a few weeks later.
Every phone goes through our full quality check before we mark it ready for delivery. For this repair we also charge it wirelessly, put a MagSafe accessory on it to test the hold, and run a finger round the edge to make sure the panel sits flush with the aluminium.
It’s a little bit like visiting a doctor. Don’t you like it when your doctor has an understanding ear, and explains the ailment to you?
All things considered, the quality of service is only as good as the expertise of the repairman. Workmanship matters!
All Apple devices, all repairs, we are your one-stop shop. We’re probably the only one in town who do L4 chip-level repair on Logic boards, arguably :)
We inspect thoroughly and share a detailed diagnosis report. You'll know exactly what's wrong before you commit to anything.
Clear pricing before any work begins. Parts, labor, and timeline upfront. You decide whether to go ahead.
1 to 3 days for common repairs. Chip-level logic board work may take up to 2 weeks. We keep you posted throughout.
90-day minimum on every repair. 3 months on chip-level logic board work. 1 year on display replacements.
We don't publish a fixed price on the website. It's dynamic, and it depends on whether you've got the 17 Pro or the larger 17 Pro Max. A figure we post today can be wrong by next month. Send your model and colour over WhatsApp and we'll share the current price straight away.
Usually about a day, sometimes a few hours, depending on the colour and how busy the workshop is. The removal and the fit are quick enough. The fresh adhesive needs time to set properly, and we won't cut that short.
On the 17 Pro and Pro Max the back is mostly aluminium. Only the small panel under the camera plateau is glass, and we can replace that on its own. If the aluminium around it is dented or the colour has chipped, new glass won't help. We can replace the whole body, but it's expensive, and for cosmetic marks we'll usually tell you it isn't worth it.
Not on its own. The colour on a 17 Pro is anodised into the aluminium, and it wears off the sharp corners of the camera plateau first. There's no way to touch that up. Replacing the whole body would fix it, but the cost rarely justifies it for a cosmetic mark. The glass panel underneath is a separate part, so if that's cracked as well we can sort that out.
Yes. On the 17 Pro the wireless charging coil is stuck to the back glass, so we peel it off the broken panel and fit it to the new one. You keep your own charging hardware rather than getting a replacement part. We charge the phone wirelessly and test the MagSafe hold before it goes back to you.
Strictly, no. Apple doesn't sell its back glass on the open market, so nobody can fit a true "Apple Original". The glass we use is the best quality available, but more important than the glass itself, is the skill & workmanship of the technician who's doing the job.
We don't provide warranty with the back glass, and the reason is simple: it's a cosmetic, non-functional part with no electronic or even mechanical components inside to fail or cover. The functional bits we touch along the way, your wireless charging and flash, stay original and get tested before handover, so those aren't a worry either.
We fit a fresh sealing gasket to help restore water resistance. Even so, there's no reliable way to test the seal afterwards, and even Apple won't commit to water resistance once a phone has been opened. If the phone is already dented or bent, resistance is reduced and can't be fully restored. We'd recommend keeping it away from liquid, and we can't take liability for liquid damage after the repair.
